The ferry departs from Rossaveal, about 1 hour drive from Galway. There are several extra sailings a day during peak season. A coach service is available to shuttle people to/from Rossaveal. The original service was provided by one of the traditional Galway Hookers `An Tonaí` which has been part of the O'Brien family for the past 5 generations. Island Ferries Teo. now have a fast modern fleet of 6 vessels.

Services to the Aran Islands are also available from Doolin in County Clare

The "Island Discovery" sails all year. Cleggan is the point of departure for ferry service to the island. It is only a 30 minute crossing from Cleggan to Inishbofin aboard the fast, comfortable ferry - "The Island Discovery".
